Preparing Your Home For Real Estate Photos

If you are planning on selling your home in the next few months, you are going to
have to have some photographs taken of your home and your garden space. It can
feel a little awkward letting a stranger come into your home and take photographs,
but it is these photographs which will allow your home to be sold at the best price
and gain those viewings.

You will want to make sure that your space is ready for being photographed when it
comes down to it and this can involve some preparation. You might already be carrying
out work on the property so this will involve you simply taking more care with the
equipment and laying down some mat rig matting to keep your garden protected during
the work. Think about where your belongings are too because the last thing you want
to do is advertise that you have lots of diamond jewellery in your home.

When you are setting up your home for photographs you will want to make sure to
first give the house a thorough clean all the way through. You’ll want to vacuum every
floor, mop in the kitchen and bathroom, make sure there is no dust lurking on your
surfaces and maybe even replace some your light bulbs.

To prepare for the images to be taken, you will also want to make sure that all of your
TVs, consoles and other electrical devices are switched off. Take the time to arrange
your curtains or blinds to let in as much light to the room as you can. Remove any
photographs of you and your family which lay in the rooms. Make sure that you fluff up
your cushions, hide any cables which are hanging out and don’t leave things like shoes
hanging around in the living room.

When it comes to the kitchen you will want to put away any dishes which have been
washed, close the cupboard doors and don’t leave lots of food out on the counter.
Make sure you also empty your bin if it is overflowing. You can also add a nice touch
to the worktop with a bowl of fruit or a vase of flowers.

When it comes to the exterior of your home, you will want to make sure that the space
seems light, spacious and relaxing. The front of your home is a big selling point for
many, so if you want to jazz things up a little you can add a hanging basket by the side
of the door for effect and colour. In the back garden make sure everything is tidy
and mow the lawn so it seems well kept. People love the idea of having a private
outdoor space so this will be very appealing to them when they see your photos. Make
the effort to deadhead any plants in the back and even add a few splashes of colour
if you want to, to give a feel of life and colour to the space.
