I can now be found at http://www.kylieofiu.com/ and would love to have you all come join me over there. I am continuing all my challenges and even have some new ones going such as my 31 Days of Money.
My book, 365 Ways To Make Money is out now and you can buy signed copies from me here.
We've struggled a little lately due to my husbands lack of work, but things are looking up now, so that's good.
I have sold 295 things so far in my aim to sell 1000 things, so am pretty happy with that. I am averaging over $5 an item, which I am hoping to maintain throughout the challenge.
My $40,000 in 6 months challenge got put on hold when my husband lost his job, since it was just not doable, but we are doing better than I expected considering the circumstances.
I have revisted my vision board and am feeling pulled in a different direction.
I have decided once I get to 500 likers on Facebook, Twitter and my blog Kylie Ofiu I will be hosting give aways. There will be a give away for each one, so head over to my blog, join in and stay tuned. (I am over 450 on twitter, 144 on Facebook and 50+ on my new blog with GFC, so would love to bump up the numbers there.)

Blog Monetization
I often receive questions about how I am monetising, or what advice I have. To be honest, I have not done a lot of it, so do not know much. I always planned to, but life got in the way, and I never really had time to focus as much as I would have liked on my blog.
I used to feel too small to do much advertising. I did not want to turn people off by having ads all over my site. I also knew I was growing and wanted to continue that growth, so did not want to lock into a really low rate, then regret it later.
On my new blog I have no advertising. I am still deciding on the look I want for it and what sort of feel. I have imported most of the posts from here and have been posting daily, guest posting and building it to what I want it to be, but have not looked at monetizing it yet.
As for monetising your blog, how do you do it and what is involved?
There are a few ways
- Google ads
- Your own private ads in the sidebar
- Sponsored posts
- Affiliate links
- eBooks
There are more ways, but these are the main ones that come to mind for me. I had Google ads at one point, but felt until I had strong traffic I shouldn’t bother. I also know of a few people kicked out for various reasons, so was a little concerned about that too.
I don’t have ads in my sidebar, but would be happy to do this now.
I am not really into sponsored posts, so can’t really comment on this. There are other blogs that do this really well.
I do have affiliate links here and there and have made some money from them, but it is not something I actively push a lot. I have a few links in my sidebar and have promoted things I truly believe and use, but most of the links on here are not affiliate ones.
As for eBooks, this is something I want to do. I have a half written one, which has been half written for about 6 months, as I got so busy writing 365 Ways To Make Money, studying and setting up my new blog that it kind of got pushed to the side. I plan on finishing it in the next few months though.
If you have a blog, what have you done to monetize it? What do you think works best?

Speaking at the Financial Bloggers Conference
This October I am speaking at The Financial Bloggers Conference on going from blog to book (that is how my book came about after all). I have some ideas about what I am going to discuss, but I was wondering if anyone has anything specific they would like me to address?
I have a bit of a plan as to what I want to cover (check it out here).
I have actually self published before as well, so I have now done both self publishing and traditional publishing I personally know the differences. My first book was 26 Ingredients and I self published it which was an interesting experience and the process of committing to write a book was great. It certainly helped me when got a publishing contract with John Wiley, as I had already been through the process, so when writing 365 Ways To Make Money it was much easier, as I had written a full book before.
Writing a book certainly is not easy, but can definitely be worth it. There is more to it than just writing the book. You need to promote it and there is a lot of work involved behind the scenes. Much more than most people realise.
Would I do it again? Definitely.
So what would you like me to talk about?
*Come over and check out my new blog Kylie Ofiu I have started my blog tour (31 Days of Money) and am also participating in Blog Boost, where I am posting 31 posts on my blog this month.

31 Days of Money - Blog Tour
I started 31 Days of Money this week. It is a blog tour where I am guest posting on a different blog every day for the whole of July. I wanted to do it to celebrate the launch of my book 365 Ways To Make Money. The posts vary between making money and saving money. I have aimed to touch a little on everything from making money at home to free and cheap dates to health and fitness.
There are so many topics to talk about when discussing money, so I have had a lot of fun writing all the posts. It has been full on, but so far has been worth it.
I also decided to do the Ultimate Blog Challenge this month on Kylie Ofiu and it has been great. It has made me be more organised with my blogging and introduced me to some great blogs. This challenge is about posting every day for a month on your blog, then you tweet about it, are part of their Facebook group and comment on each others blogs. It sounds like a lot of work, but it's not really. By writing post together and scheduling them, all you really need to do is add the links to Facebook and twitter and check some blogs. It only takes a few minutes a day.
I would love it if you came over to check it out, or liked me on Facebook or followed me on twitter.
