Donating

I strongly believe that the more you give the more you receive. Any financial book will tell you that giving away some of your money is part of the process to become wealthy. Giving provides more blessings than just financial.

I have found in my life whenever I give things get better. For example, last week I decided to just donate an amount to my friend from my royalties, despite the fact that I don’t get my royalties until 1st July and I have no idea how much I have sold. I decided to act in blind faith that if I donated X amount, I would sell enough to cover the amount I donated.

2 days after I donated I got an email from my publisher saying they have sold out of their first print. (Being a self published book, they don’t print lots, but it is still a good sign.) After that I had a request from my neighbour for more books. She has already sold a few at her work and has just sold more. At the same time my dad told me he sold another one at his work place. So immediately after I donated, things picked up.

Furthermore, I received some money from other sources that I was not expecting and things are looking up.

This has been the pattern of my life. When I had my hairdressing business I found that when I donated to charity I would be met with an influx of appointments, yet when I wasn’t donating, my appointments slimmed right down.

Many people will argue it’s a coincidence, but I believe that it is karma and blessings. Do good unto others and they will do good unto you.

It is not a hard principle to live by, I don’t think. You don’t have to donate all your money or anything, but a little now and then is just a way of showing you appreciate how blessed you have been in your life and in turn you will be blessed more.

Finding money

Lately I have been reading a bit about finding money. I find small coins on a fairly regular basis and have occasionally found notes. It got me thinking and I wonder how much money I find each year. So, I am going to start recording the money I find and do something useful with it. Since we can all do with some extra free money, I thought I’d share with you where I find my money. I don’t actively go out looking for it, but when I go on walks I scan the area looking for coins.

1.) In the gutter. I have often found coins laying in the gutter. They fall out of pockets when people get out of cars, they get dropped when people are catching the bus and if you have ever caught a bus you will know the pressure to be quick. If you drop your money, too bad.
2.) In car parks. Again, when people are getting out of their cars it falls out of their pockets, coins get dropped when people open their wallets to see how much they have before going into the store etc...
3.) Vending machines. I check them. People don’t always pick up their change when they buy their food or drink. Also, check under and on top of them. Coins get dropped and roll under things and when people don’t have enough hands they will place things on top of the machine to organise themselves and sometimes forget.
4.) Phone booths. As a kid I used to check these all the time. I remember once there was a group of us walking and there was a set of 3 booths in front of us. My friend checked each one and found nothing. My mum watched as she did it and noticed on the ground some coins my friend stood on and didn’t even see! With mobiles and phone cards there are not as many coins around the phone booths, but if you check where the change should be and on the ground you may get lucky.
5.) On the ground in the supermarket. I have dropped coins there and when I have bent down to get my coin there’s been coins under the aisle’s, under registers, at the ends of aisles, everywhere. It is more common than you think.
6.) Self serve check outs. Amazingly not everyone collects their change. As they are fairly new here many people find them too much and forget. Check the change slot and check under the machine. You might get lucky.
7.) Any sporting event, show, concert etc... there is money to be found, but especially as people start to leave and where the food is being sold. If you don’t mind hanging back a bit it’s all yours.

Basically anywhere that money is exchanged you can find it. Parking meters and pay machines are a good one. I have never looked but people have told me that drive through windows are a good one. Coins get dropped and it is too much of a bother to open the car door and look, so it gets left there. It’s worth a shot.

Ever heard the saying “Watch the cents and the dollars take care of themselves.” Well, it seems for most people, 5c, 10c etc... is not worth the effort of bending over. I don’t know about you, but it doesn’t matter to me how much it is, I am going to pick it up!

Anyone else want to do this one with me? You could keep a jar or tin to put the money in or just remember to write it down. Good luck and happy money hunting.

My first GIVE AWAY!!!!

So today I have decided to do my first ever give-away and I am very excited. There will be a few things you can do to get entries in the draw.

1.) Post a comment below
2.) Sign up to follow me and post a comment so I know.
3.) Post a link to this freebie on your Facebook page or blog or other social networking site and post a comment to say you’ve done it.

Each thing is worth 1 entry. Entries will close 5pm Sunday April 18th AEST.

The freebie is a jewellery set designed to help you make money, courtesy of Gifts 2 Impress. I know, this sounds a little crazy, but hear me out.

Many people believe that crystals and gems have energy. Citrine is known as the luck merchant’s stone as it has long been used to promote sales. Its energies are money, luck, healing and protection. It promotes clarity of thought and opens the mind to new thoughts (very good for thinking of ways to make money!). It also increases self esteem.

Even if you don’t believe in the energy of the stone, it is worth $340!!!! So it is still worth winning to give as an AWESOME present or as a nice piece of jewellery for yourself.

As you can see with my bad photography skills it is a pair of earrings and a pendant set in 9ct gold.

Gifts 2 Impress is an Australian owned and run business based who specialize in high quality Australian Opals. You can contact their manager amy.travers@gifts2impress.com.au if you have any questions.

Due to postage costs, this freebie is only open to Australian residents. Sorry.

BUT check back regularly coz I will be doing random give-aways of all sorts of things from now on.

Online Mastermind/money clubs

I thought I might offer a suggestion for those who would like a money group but are unable to attend one.

Did you know on FaceBook you can have private groups? So no one can see them except those who are invited. So all you would have to do is sign up to Face Book if you haven’t already and create a group.

You select whether you want it visible for all or just private, invite who you would like to join and that’s it.

You can post messages on the wall, put in links, have discussions, upload photos’/videos etc... to show or help each other.

It is completely private, so if you want to share ideas or whatever it is only the members of your group who can see it.

It’s not the same as having a sit down conversation but if you happen to have any light bulb moments, or something you want to tell another member of the group, you don’t have to wait to see them or call them, you can just post a message and they can respond when they have the time.

It works well for those who find it a bit hard to get together due to differing schedules or for those who live far apart.

I’m sure other social networking sites do something similar, so check it out.

The Laws of Success - Napoleon Hill FREE

Has anyone heard of Napoleon Hills book The Laws of Success? Most people have heard of Think and Grow Rich, but Rachel told me about The Laws of Success and it is so interesting. It is 20 years of research about millionaires and what “rules they live by etc... Not that Think and Grow Rich is not interesting, they are both excellent books. I had just never heard of The Laws of Success.

It’s an old book, so you can now view it online for free here. If you prefer a book you can hold in your hands you can get it here.

I think if more people made their money using Napoleon Hill's formula, they would be a whole lot more successful and maybe some of the stigmatisms such as "All rich people got there by treading on everyone elses heads" might go away a bit.

I find that reading books like these helps keep me motivated and I find new ideas to apply to my life in each one.

Thanks heaps Rachel for your suggestion!

Possible TV exposure!!

I have some AWESOME news! I emailed Today Tonight about my book, 26 Ingredients and they rang me to tell me they are interested! I just need to send them a copy of my book and they will contact me to let me know if they will do a story.

The producer I spoke to asked lots of questions and took lots of notes and sounded very interested so I am hopeful. It would be excellent exposure for me.

I almost didn’t send the email because I was so nervous. It also said they don’t reply to every email, but I got called the next day, so I think that is a good sign.

I’ve still got more things on my list of things to do to promote my book and I am getting more confident about it now, which is brilliant.

So, just had to share with you all. If they do decide to do a story, I will let you all know!
