I got a house and move in a month

I am very excited. I got a house in the suburb I wanted so my daughters can go to the school I wanted them to attend. I've been spending this weekend getting things ready which has been very exciting.

In preparation for moving I have been selling off a lot of my stuff that I do not want to move. If I don't love it, it's not coming. I have been giving away a fair bit too.

On my moving to do list I have:
- List the rest of things I want to sell this week
- Give away whatever doesn't sell
- Order my daughters beds
- Pack some stuff to move as I will be going to Canberra this week
- Book moving truck
- Pack anything I am not using
- Sign and get the keys for the new house

I am beyond excited to be moving back to Canberra. I have been down more often recently than I have in some time. I have a couple more trips to make before I move in less than 4 weeks, so will bring stuff down then too.

I really look forward to setting up the house, having a study, a gym and lots of room for my kids to play. We have 2 living areas so there will be a main lounge and the toy room. I have lots of organisation ideas to implement and just can't wait to start the new phase of my life.

Any moving tips for me?

  1. So glad that finally you can settle down and begin the next stage of your family's life. I love having the lounge room and toy room as well because you can have a grown up space where you are not tripping over toys all the time. Having said that I have a 9 year old and 7 year old and I think they take over all spaces of the house. Anyway I know the the day you move in will be very exciting and you can focus on family life. Start that veggie patch or veggies in pots and have fun. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

    1. Thank you Kathy. I am really looking forward to it, especially things like having an adult lounge and toy room, so yes, not tripping over toys, lol.

As kids get older they do tend to take over all the spaced, just wait a few years and yours'll be teens who hide in their rooms instead.

Veggies in pots it will be and my girls are so excited to be growing stuff ourselves again.

  2. It is good you are getting rid of stuff. I also recommend moving the small, fragile and irreplaceable things yourself. It always kills me when I see a mover just carry a lamp into the house when I can do that too.

    1. Thanks, I have never used a removalist, so always carry my precious items myself, but yes, it can be scary watching others move and potentially break valuable/precious items.
