Why Australians Need Health Insurance
I am one of the few people in my area that I know have health insurance. While it may seem costly at first, I wouldn't be without it. There are so many options, different prices and packages. Even basic health cover for ambulances and hospital is a great start.
In Australia we do have a pretty good free health care system, but that health care system is quickly becoming overloaded. Depending on where you live, if you are diagnosed with cancer, you could wait 2 years for surgery! If you have private cover you would get treated much faster.
Recently I had one of my daughters diagnosed with a learning delay. We just had our other daughter tested and it turns out she has other issues. Through my health insurance I will be able to claim back some of these expenses. It won't cover everything, but the small amount I get back is better than nothing.
To me, health insurance provides peace of mind. I know if anything were to happen to my daughters or I, we would be seen to quickly. Any time we need tests or an operation or anything like that we will not have to be on public waiting lists for years.
When I was selecting health insurance I used a few comparison sites, went to the sites of insurance companies I had heard good things from and selected who I wanted to go with. One of the places you can compare private health insurance is Choosi. It is easy to put in your details and find suitable options.
What are your thoughts on private health insurance?
