Having a specific area for work is just as important as having a specific time. I live in a 1 bedroom unit, so do not have the space for a proper home office, but I have created a mini office. Whilst I don’t get to sit at a desk and work, it contains all my work things. I do have to pull things out as I need them and work on my dining table, but it does mean I am more organised.
So, what do I have in my home office?
- My laptop and modem. To me, these are my most important items.
- My printer/scanner.
- Various folders for various things such as all my house records for tax time, all my blogging records, important papers etc...
- A few notebooks, pens, paper, high lighters, tape, stapler, ruler etc... You know, basic stationary supplies.
It is all kept in a cupboard locked away from the tiny hands in my house that like to destroy things. It is not as awesome a having my own proper room or space to have constantly set up as a home office, but I like it all the same.
When I have a room I will be getting a new printer/scanner/fax machine, Voip, a desk, chair and a few other bits and pieces. I am very excited about having my own space one day. A whole room for work that can be locked and kept safe! Oh, the possibilities! One day it’ll happen, hopefully one not too far away.
